Chandni Chowk, one of Delhi's busiest markets, has become an international landmark. It is home to dozens of eateries and food stalls with an array of street food, fine dining options, and everything in between. It also boasts one of the largest wholesale flower markets in India. Although this bustling market is full of life on any given day, it's now under threat as the Indian government plans to redevelop it into a high-end commercial area with luxury apartment complexes. Chandni Chowk's history is as long as its market, stretching back to the 17th century, when it was a busy army supply point. Over time, this bustling market has been the site of many significant events in India's history. In 1984 it was the scene of a high-profile kidnapping incident involving Princess Mother, who was released unharmed after 15 days after negotiations between India and China were initiated. The success of her safe return was welcomed by all Indians and marked another step in improving the relationship between India and China. The road lies at the heart of Delhi's old city. Within a day's walk of the city, two world class museums are located within minutes. Over the years, the market has become a thriving hub for Indian culture and traditions. Many of India's most sacred sites are part of its fabric, including Central Park where pilgrims perform their daily ablutions. Chandni Chowk is also home to several mosques which mark important dates in the Muslim year, including Eid-ul Adha, Ashura, Bakri Eid and Muharram. Every night until 6am every morning at least 200 drums and pipes play music as people gather to worship God. The Chinese ambassador in India gets a phone call from a friend one day informing him about a government announcement to redevelop the market to make way for modern commercial infrastructures. The ambassador, along with his two friends, gets together and plans a trip to India to see the market for themselves. In Delhi, Chandni Chowk is in danger of being demolished. The plans are well under way and the area will be emptied out to build new shopping malls and apartment complexes. In order to have any chance of saving it from destruction, the three friends must do everything in their power to convince India's Prime Minister that Chandni Chowk is worth preserving...
