Q:
Django FileField formatter not working properly
I'm using a FileField in a Django form. I want to check for the file extension on the server side.
class MyForm(forms.Form):
files = forms.FileField()
def clean(self):
if file.endswith('.gz'):
# do something...
else:
raise forms.ValidationError(u'Invalid file name.')
The above code throws a ValueError. It seems that the files.endswith() method doesn't work properly. Can anyone help?
A:
Does your server side handle gzipped files? If not, you'll need to unzip the file in the view.
Alternatively, you can set the 'pre_clean' method in your form to unzip the file on server-side,
def pre_clean(self):
# unzip the file here
That being said, I can't imagine how this could be useful in the first place.
A:
You need to make sure that the files have been gzipped.
def clean(self):
# Check that the file has been gzipped
if os.path.exists(self.cleaned_data.get('file')):
with gzip.open(self.cleaned_data.get('file'), 'rb') as f:
# do something with the file contents...
# (e.g. save to a file)
#....
# then set the new ac619d1d87
